President's Message

Dear Members

This is the last newsletter for 2005 and the last one during my term of office.

I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of our members. You have invested your time, attended meetings, suggested speakers or at times even served as speakers, provided articles for the newsletter, assisted with the Spring Forum and participated in many other ways too numerous to mention. Without you this Chapter would not exist. I will always be grateful to each of you.

I would also like to thank the officers who served with me. Their support and guidance made the job easier than I could have hoped for.

My very best wishes to all of the members of Chapter 15 for the New Year and beyond. On behalf of the outgoing Executive Board, it has been a a great honor to serve as an officer on behalf of our Chapter

Sincerely, Dave Kook
Final Meeting of 2005 Our last meeting was held at Carlucci's along the Rancocas River. During the lunch the slate of officers proposed by the outgoing Executive Board was announced and the floor was opened for nominations. Hearing none, the nominations were closed and the slate of officers were elected by acclamation. The food was good and although the room was not quite as private as we would have liked, the lunch was a definite treat. Special Thanks go to Linda Beyer and Kristina Hofmann for all of the work they put into making the raffle and door prizes such a fun event.

Lunch was followed ad the time moved on to for a very interesting tour of the Smithville Mansion (Mt. Holly, not Atlantic City). At the conclusion of the tour the incoming officers were sworn in by our outgoing Director Nick Arocha.
Next Meeting February 9th Details will follow once a location is selected.

2006-2007 EXECUTIVE Board

The incoming officers for the 2006-2007 term are shown to the right. There are a number of familiar names as well as some new names. The officers were sworn in at our final meeting on December 7th and will take office January 2006.

Call for Articles Do you have an opinion? Is something new and different happening
in your area of specialization? Do you feel an urge to share a better way to get the job
done? If you said yes to any of these, you could be a contributor. You don't have to
submit a full blown article, even an idea would be a great help in making this newsletter
better. If you would like to contribute to the newsletter, click here.
Educational Opportunities

The IRWA has many courses and seminars in various right of way related fields.. Chapter 15 would be happy to sponsor a course. Typically, a minimum of 10 people are needed to break even. We try to keep course prices low by finding facilities that will host the course at no charge. To check out potential courses , you can visit http://www.irwanj.org/IRWACourselist.htm
To suggest a course or a possible course location, use our use our feedback and questions link
Recipe A favorite for holidays, this comes from Colonial Williamsburg.
Christiana Campbell's Tavern Sweet Potato Muffins Makes approx 24 mini muffins
1 Cup Flour, 1/2 Cup Sugar, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt,
1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg, 2 large eggs
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter (softened), 1/2 cup milk,
1 cup mashed cooked sweet potatoes (I use vacuum packed canned pre-cooked)
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, 1/2 cup raisins

Preheat oven to 400 F. Into a large bowl sift flour with the baking powder, salt, cinnamon
and nutmeg.

In a separate bowl, beat the butter with the sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, sweet
potatoes and milk. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and fold in the nuts and raisins.

Fill the mini muffin tins two thirds full and bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted
into the center comes out clean.
